Data from the Bureau of Meteorology shows the gauge at the Bendigo Airport has recorded 118.2 millimetres of rain in the past three months.

The last time the region's winter rainfall was that low was 2015 when 112.6 millimetres of rain was recorded.

The next driest winter was 2017 when there was 123.6 millimetres recorded.

But the bureau's data shows Bendigo also recorded its wettest August since 2016. There has been 71 millimetres of rain this month.

The wettest day was August 8, when 28 millimetres was recorded at Bendigo Airport.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Cristie Johnson said showers on Sunday evening would only bring a few millimetres for Bendigo.

But Ms Johnson said some of that August rainfall would flow into the first week of Spring.

"There are a series of fronts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday that will mostly affect south of the ranges," she said.

"There will be a couple of millimetres of rain in Bendigo, most likely on Thursday and Friday. There may be some isolated showers on Wednesday."

The bureau's spring outlook is forecasting a wetter than average season for most of Victoria.

"The chance of rainfall above average levels is pretty high for Bendigo," Ms Johnson said.

"The whole state is above average but there is more of a chance to exceed average rainfall in the north of the state rather than the south."
