Haig, 26, has developed into one of the best climbers in the world and has been widely lauded for his domestique work in recent years for Mitchelton-Scott team-mates Adam and Simon Yates.
His best performances in Europe with Mitchelton-Scott were a stage win at the Tour of Pologne in 2017 and fourth placing in last year's Paris-Nice Classic.
The move to Team Bahrain McLaren is expected to offer Haig more opportunities as a general classification rider.
"I'm extremely excited to be joining Team Bahrain McLaren in 2021," Haig told teambahrainmclaren.com
"After five wonderful years at Mitchelton-Scott I am ready for this new challenge and contributing to the journey of Team Bahrain McLaren".
Haig, who has signed a three-year contract with Team Bahrain McLaren, is not riding for Mitchelton-Scott in the Tour de France, which starts this weekend.
He will ride in the Giro d'Italia in October.
"We want every one of our riders to push themselves and find out how good they can be. In Jack's case, he's shown us his potential, so I see an exciting future ahead of him,'' Team Bahrain McLaren principal Rod Ellingworth said.
"But to achieve the sort of success we want for our riders, it's down to every member of the team to pull in the same direction.
"That's the sort of culture we have been building at Team Bahrain McLaren. I look forward to working with Jack and helping him achieve his personal goals."
