The Marong Neighbourhood House letter box has become a receptacle for letters and pictures for residents at Strath-Haven Community.
Kylie Rowe developed the idea just over a week ago, after seeing how much residents at the aged care centre were missing their friends and relatives.
Ms Rowe is a personal care worker at Strath-Haven.
She also works in administration at Marong Neighbourhood House.
While working at the neighbourhood house, Ms Rowe saw an opportunity to safely bring joy to the Strath-Haven residents.
"An activity came up about letters of kindness kids could do at home and send to their own relatives," she said.
Ms Rowe built on the concept, inviting members of the community to write letters, draw pictures and create art for residents at the aged care centre.
All they had to do was drop their letters and artworks in the neighbourhood house's letterbox, and Ms Rowe would deliver them to Strath-Haven.
The initiative is gaining momentum, with the Marong Primary School getting involved.
Ms Rowe said anyone could get involved, as long as they adhered to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
She expected the initiative would continue for as long as people wanted to be involved. At the very least, she hoped the letters and art would continue through the current restrictions.
The Marong Neighbourhood House is at 39 High Street, Marong. It is presently open by appointment only, but the letter box is out the front.
