The farm owners reported sick birds to Agriculture Victoria and testing found low pathogenic H7N6 avian influenza.
This is a different strain to that affecting poultry farms in Golden Plains Shire, and is not linked to previous cases of the virus.

The property, which has about 8000 emus, is under quarantine.
There is also a restricted area of two kilometres and a control area of five kilometres around the farm.
Six bird farms have been affected by avian influenza since July 31, when the first farm cases were detected.
Avian influenza is a highly contagious disease for birds, which can cause significant numbers of deaths among domestic populations.
The strains detected in Victoria rarely affect humans, unless there is direct and close contact with sick birds.
The public is encouraged to report sick or dead birds, especially in the Golden Plains Shire, Kerang or near Bairnsdale areas, to the 24-hour Emergency Animal Disease Watch Hotline on 1800 675 888.
