SEVENTEEN Bendigo suburbs are now at least half-covered by Telstra's 5G network, the telecommunications giant says as it hooks up its 450th Victorian site.
There are now 250 Victorian suburbs with more than 50 per cent of coverage from Telstra 5G.
5G is the next generation of mobile phone technology and Telstra has so far installed the network across the widest area, though other providers are also rolling out coverage.
Telstra regional general manager Steve Tinker said his company's rollout would continue over coming months.
"While it's more important than ever for Australians to be connected, it'll be even more critical in the future as we roll out our 5G network which is bringing faster speeds, greater capacity and a wealth of new uses, to our customers," Mr Tinker said.
Bendigo was among the first cities Telstra rolled out its 5G network last year.
The city's business community welcomed that move, with Be.Bendigo chief executive Dennis Bice saying at the time it would no doubt assist businesses innovate in the digital economy.
