Mr Summers, now a graduate of La Trobe University's Master of Business Administration, embarked on a three-month enterprise learning project at the Bendigo landmark.
His task was to develop and present a marketing and visitor strategy for the Bridge Street museum and its surrounds.
"I'd been to Shanghai and lived there for a couple of months and had seen the Easter Festival," Mr Summers said.
"The cultural interaction of the dragons and the Golden Dragon Museum is pretty amazing."
A short to medium-term, inexpensive marketing and visitor strategy was Mr Summers' remit.
"I did a survey and found the museum is a fantastic asset in Bendigo, but it hasn't really changed and while almost everyone in Bendigo has been there, they don't go back," Mr Summers said.

A quest to engage the local community, so they could spread the word to their friends and family about new offerings at the museum is lynchpin of the new strategy.
"Ideally, things like food vans and Chinese themed nights bring more people to the attraction," Mr Summers said.
"The gardens and the temple should also make the whole precinct attractive."
Golden Dragon Museum chief executive Hugo Leschen said it was great to have a fresh set of eyes across the museum's offerings.

"A key part of the strategy was to work with all media to promote our own programs and attract external events to the precinct," Mr Leschen said.
"Nowadays, people engage before and after they visit, through sites such as TripAdvisor."
The COVID-19 pandemic struck midway through Mr Summers' placement, and he was able to pivot the strategy to suit the new norm.
"During the COVID situation, we explored putting some of our programs on social media and online to allow local people and those further afield to engage," Mr Leschen said.
"One of the benefits of having Mr Summers work with us was that we got an excellent outcome and a sophisticated strategy."
