St Joseph's Primary School in Quarry Hill will reopen on Thursday, after being closed for three weeks.

The first case at St Joseph's was confirmed on July 29, when a staff member tested positive to the virus.

There have now been 16 coronavirus cases linked to the school - including three teachers and 11 students.

Holy Rosary Primary School in White Hills will also reopen from Monday after two students tested positive to COVID-19. The school has been closed since August 9.

Students at the schools returned to remote learning on August 5 as the region entered stage three COVID-19 restrictions.

The schools will only be open to children whose parents are essential workers or vulnerable children who can't learn from home.

Catholic Education Office Sandhurst director Paul Desmond said there had been no new coronavirus cases at the schools this week.

"The schools have been cleaned and approved by the Department of Health and Human Services to reopen very soon," Mr Desmond said. "It makes me very happy."

Two students from Catherine McAuley College also tested positive to COVID-19 late last month. The school was closed for two weeks but reopened on August 12.

Mr Desmond said all of the positive coronavirus cases were doing well.

"The reports from principals at the schools are that any student who has tested positive is in good spirits, doing well, and is being closely observed by very vigilant parents," he said.

"The teachers are also doing well and are in good spirits."

Mr Desmond commended the school communities for how they have handled themselves in the past few weeks.

"Each of the schools have a wider community of parents, children, and staff members who have been very supportive of one another, have worked closely with their principals, and have shown a great sense of what it is to be part of a community," he said.
