Science communicator Alissa Van Soest said a virtual reality event is the highlight.
"This is a national event, where people can sign up online and collect their own free virtual reality headsets and take part in some activities that explore the universe," Ms Van Soest said.
Adults can participate on Friday night from 7.45pm, while a family-friendly event takes place on Saturday at 11.15am.

The event is presented by astronomers and hosted by Julia Zemiro.
Professor Alan Duffy said the event is like "having access to a personal guide to the universe."
Ms Van Soest said science is everywhere you look.
"The week is so much fun and all about appreciating what we have around us," she said.
