BENDIGO cyclist Jack Haig slid eight spots after the final stage to finish 27th overall in the Critérium du Dauphiné in France.

Racing for the Mitchelton-Scot team, Haig came in 91st in the 142.5 km final stage raced overnight on Sunday, falling from 19th overall at the start of the day to 27th.
Haig's best performance of the race was Saturday's mountainous 148.5km stage four when he came in fourth position.
Fellow Bendigo cyclist Alexander Evans didn't finish the final stage after being outside the time limit.
The best of the Australians was Richie Porte, who came in 15th, while German Daniel Martinez was the winner.

Stage 1 (218.5 km) - Haig 36th; Evans 131st.
Stage 2 (135 km) - Haig 33rd; Evans 129th.
Stage 3 (157 km) - Haig 29th; Evans 80th.
Stage 4 (148.5 km) - Haig 4th; Evans 127th.
Stage 5 (142.5 km) - Haig 91st; Evans DNF.
