Greater Bendigo has recorded one less active case of the virus in the past 24 hours, with 53 in the local government area.

But the total number of cases recorded in Greater Bendigo since the pandemic started rose by one, to 73.

Mount Alexander Shire has one fewer active case, with two in the local government area.

But the total number of infections in the shire since the virus broke out remains at 10.

Campaspe Shire has two active cases, one more than Tuesday. Total case numbers rose from six to seven.

Case numbers in Macedon Ranges, Loddon, Gannawarra and Central Goldfields shires remain stable.

There are 86 active cases of COVID-19 in central Victoria.

The state recorded 410 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Twenty-one people lost their lives to the virus. Sixteen of the deaths were linked to aged care centres.

Fifty-nine people have died from COVID-19 in Victoria in the past three days.

There are 662 people in hospital because of the virus, 43 of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 7271 people have recovered from the virus.
