SANDHURST's top-order will feature two new players for the upcoming Bendigo District Cricket Association season.
The Dragons have Dylan Gibson returning to the club, while they have also added Anthony McMahon from Moama.
An opening batsman, McMahon scored 538 runs at an average of 41.3 in the Goulburn Murray Cricket Association last season, including an unbeaten 111 against Echuca.
The 22-year-old also fell just short of two other centuries, making 94 against Kyabram Fire Brigade and 91 in Moama's semi-final loss to Rochester.
The all-rounder will also form a key part of the Dragons' attack with the ball, having also claimed 26 wickets for Moama last season.
"He bowls reasonably sharpish and is an opening batsman, so we're really excited to have Anthony join us. Hopefully, we can help him to develop into the cricketer he wants to become," Sandhurst head of coaching Craig Howard said on Wednesday.
McMahon is good mates with Joel Murphy, who has spent the past two seasons at the Dragons. With Shasheen Fernando not returning to the Dragons next season, it opens the door to Murphy and McMahon opening the batting together.
All-rounder Gibson returns to the Dragons having last played at the club in 2012-13.
Since then Gibson has had stints at Huntly-North Epsom and Kangaroo Flat.
Over the course of his first XI career in the BDCA Gibson has amassed 2732 runs, including four centuries - his highest score being the 144 he made for the Dragons against Eaglehawk in 2011-12. He also has 121 wickets with his spin bowling.
The Dragons will also have hard-hitting coach Ash Gray back in the batting line-up after his 2019-20 season was curtailed by a back injury, plus bowler Will Keck will be coming back from an ankle injury.
Departures from the Dragons, who finished ninth last season, are Fernando, Taylor Beard, Matt Combe and Sam Sperling.
