Mr Bassett took to One Tree Hill, where he flipped the tyre to the summit, before carrying it back down as the number of onlookers swelled.
"Carrying the tyre down the hill was painful because I was already hurting, but it's nothing compared to what some people go through with their own mental health," Mr Bassett said.
Mr Bassett raised $5529.73 for Lifeline Central Victoria and Mallee and said lots of people got on board his fundraising campaign.
"People have jumped on board and driven this fundraiser," he said.
"Mental wellbeing is a big issue in the community so to have Lifeline in Bendigo, people associate with it."

Lifeline Central Victoria and Mallee chief executive Rebecca Cornish said the organisation is incredibly grateful for the donation.
"As a small, not-for-profit with limited state funding, we are very reliant on community donations to do the life saving work that we do," Ms Cornish said.
"This money will go to support the invaluable work of our Crisis Supporters as the demand on our services is greater than ever before."
Ms Cornish congratulated Mr Bassett for coming forward to promote men's mental health.
"Sadly in Australia, there are eight suicides a day and six of those are male," Ms Cornish said.
"The number of men who die by suicide in Australia each year is nearly double the national road toll."

The state government has further bolstered the mental health system with a $59.7 million funding injection, on top of $135 million invested since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new funding will strengthen surge capacity of clinical and community mental health services to cope with additional presentations and reduce pressure on emergency departments.
Minister for Mental Health Martin Foley said coronavirus is hitting everyone hard.
"This package will provide support for people from all walks of life experiencing anxiety and distress in this unprecedented period of uncertainty," Mr Foley said.
