FORMER Wycheproof-Narraport coach Julian Bull can sum up Boe Bish in just one word - consistent.
And it's that consistency that has led to Bish coming out at No.1 for the most Addy player rankings points in the North Central league since 2012.
The Addy's player rankings use a system based on the weekly six best players submitted by clubs, with a weighting given towards contributions made to a winning team (similar to the starting point for umpires in casting votes post-match) that produce a ranking total.
The points system:
Winning team - 1st best (16.0 points); 2nd best (13.5); 3rd best (11.0); 4th best (8.5); 5th best (6.0); 6th best (3.5).
Losing team - 1st best (7.0); 2nd best (6.0); 3rd best (5.0); 4th best (4.0); 5th best (3.0); 6th best (2.0).
Drawn game (both teams) - 1st best (10.0); 2nd best (8.5); 3rd best (7.0); 4th best (5.5); 5th best (4.0); 6th best (2.5).
In essence, performing highly, playing key roles in winning games and longevity are the three key components to the rankings and Bish ticks the boxes.
Throughout the timeframe from 2012 Bish played every year with the Demons, apart from a one-season stint with Newlyn in the Central Highlands league in 2019.
The reliable half-back flanker featured among the Demons' best players 58 times since 2012, including 41 where he was one of the top three, and twice earned the coveted Des Darcy Medal as best-on-ground in the grand final in Wycheproof-Narraport's back-to-back flags in 2017-18.
Bish, who was to pull the boots back on for the Demons this year, tops the rankings with 587.5 points.
"He's just Mr. Consistent in the backline. He's won six or seven best and fairests to go along with twice being best on ground in a grand final," said Bull, who previously coached Bish and the Demons from 2016 to 2018.
"He's a player who always stands up in big games and plays a lot bigger than he is. He takes a lot of intercept marks and is as hard as nails.
"He's the sort of team-mate that you know will put his body on the line time and time again. He's a 25-to-30 touches per game half-back who does all the hard things.
"It's no surprise to me to see that he would come out on top of this."
Bish is among three Wycheproof-Narraport players who are in the top five of the rankings.
Demons' hard-nut George Turner is at No.4 with 524.5 points, while star veteran Corey Jones is No.5 with 456.0 points to go with 313 goals.
Second on the list is former St Arnaud coach and 2012 joint Feeny medallist James McNamee with 573.5 points, while Charlton's Aaron Walklate is third with 535.0 points. McNamee (2015) and Walklate (2016) both coached premierships through the time period.
Wedderburn has the most players in the top 50 with 10, the highest of whom is Robert Tonkin at No. 9 with 399.5 points, while after being the most prolific goalkicker through the period with 358, Redbacks' forward Sam Barnes is at No.14 with 373.0 points.
