A collaboration between the Gisborne Football Netball Club, Gisborne Giants Football Netball Club, Gisborne Masters Football Club and Gisborne Rookies Junior Football Netball Club assisted in the sale of 4,444 Big Freeze beanies, raising more than $80,000 to support FIghtMND.

"As a club, as a community, we are only too pleased to support FightMND and the fight against the deadly disease," GFNC president John Wood said.

"While many of us are doing it tough with the challenges presented by COVID-19, those affected by MND, whether they be sufferers or family, are doing tougher than most and thinking of those people gives us great perspective."

The mammoth effort in 2020, combined with the sale of 2000 beanies and donations from 2019, increases the total raised by the club to $120,000 over the past two years.

Now in its sixth year, the Big Freeze has raised nearly $40 million in total.
