Regional Victoria will be moving back to stage three restrictions from Thursday, meaning residents can only leave home to shop for food and essential items; for care and caregiving; for daily exercise; and for work and study if not possible from home.
A university spokesperson on Monday confirmed there would still be limited on-site teaching and approved research at La Trobe's regional campuses, including Bendigo.
"We will continue to monitor the situation and follow government advice accordingly," the spokesperson said.
Students at the university's Bundoora and city campuses would return to online only classes for at least the next six weeks.
The university moved to remote learning in March when COVID-19 restrictions were first introduced in Victoria.

"We will continue to provide an excellent remote learning experience for those of our students who are required to continue their studies remotely," the spokesperson said.
"Student feedback surveys show that the student experience continues to be very positive."
The spokesperson confirmed the university was planning alternative graduation ceremonies after the original events were postponed earlier this year.
"All graduating students are receiving their testamurs by mail to ensure they are not held up in their transition to employment," the spokesperson said.
