Trucks go unchecked
It seems that the closed borders are only loosely closed to trucks.

The Age reports that they are being waved through permits unchecked, and that police can't check them all.
These trucks probably represent a considerable portion of the cross border traffic and the delays at border must be presenting issues with driving hours and chain of responsibility requirements.
Why does the truck itself need to cross the border? If the borders were set up as inland ports, a trailer could be dropped by an out-of-state driver and delivered by an in-state driver.
The out of state driver could do likewise, picking up a trailer for his state, eliminating the risk of cross border truck drivers.

Beware of optimism
Our City Council has become involved with the " Voice of Optimism" and is about to start a campaign.
I would point out that to focus exclusively on the bright side of life, on all good events, and to sweep harsh realities under the rug, does not prepare one for surprises and negative circumstances which can arise.
Optimism can be a key element in emotional well-being, but there's a difference between healthy optimism and the Pollyanna pop psychology version of positive thinking.
Trite pep talks often tend to backfire and cause resentment and isolation in others.
Those that play the "everything will be terrific" game overlook real problems.
It is important council realise that in some instances, change cannot be addressed, and it is acceptance, not optimism or wishful thinking, that will prevent depression or endless frustration.

Go vegan and prosper
Be grateful you weren't born as a commodity.
Some 56,000 sheep were due to be loaded onto a ship, transported over the equator in intolerable heat, only to meet a grisly fate in the Middle East, where we have repeatedly seen videos of men tying them up and throwing them in car boots or slaughtering them with blunt knives in the streets.
Due to an outbreak of COVID-19 on the live export ship in Fremantle, it was too late to send them.
So was this a reprieve? Will they live happily ever after? No - the sole purpose of the meat trade is to make a profit from the suffering of animals.
They will now be slaughtered for supermarket shelves, despite the market for red meat in Australia shrinking fast.
It's a simple equation: the big corporations won't breed them if we don't buy them.
Going vegan is better for your health, the environment, and of course the animals who won't have to suffer.
