BOOK/READING EVENTS
TOUGH GUY BOOK CLUB
Join in for the August meet of the Tough Guy Book Club - Bendigo Chapter.
Come along in person and meet the members or get in touch with the chapter officers and join in via a video.
The novel for the month is The Water Dance by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This will be discussed at the meeting.

If you love to read, write and love words, then this Shared Reading Circle is for you.
A story will be read out loud and there will be a discussion to follow.
Discussions will detail what characters do, how they could be feeling and how it relates to us.

VOCAL WORKSHOP
SingStudio proudly presents an opportunity for people to learn vocal skills from one of Australia's great talents, Susie Ahern.
Susie Ahern is widely respected for her vocal coaching techniques and insight as a music producer and mentor.
She has toured with well known artists, providing backing vocals for John Farnham, Tina Arena, Guy Sebastian and Anthony Callea.

WEEKENDS AT DISCOVERY
The Discovery Centre Bendigo has re-opened its doors for weekends and private bookings.
Pre-book your ticket online and enjoy a weekend of fun.
There will be two sessions a day, morning from 10am and afternoon sessions from 1pm.
Children can create their own flying machines, go for a test flight and get a picture of themselves as an astronaut.
The Athlete's Arena will also open in the new exhibition space.
Pay at the door, prices from $5 for children to $16 for adults.

BENDIGO CARES
Join the Goldfields Libraries Corporation and Heather Blakey for a series of online workshops focused on connecting with other locals.
Heather Blakey is an acclaimed web publisher and will help participants connect with each other and discover hidden talents.
Participants will be supported to share lived experiences, tell stories and respond to topic prompts.
This workshop will allow participants to share creative writing, photography, art and much more, in a welcoming setting.

HULA HOOP WORKSHOP
Hosted by Soul Dance Circus, this workshop will have you moving and grooving with a hula hoop.
This workshop is to give a taste into a monthly class directed at adults, open to beginners and people with intermediate manipulation techniques.
This workshop will cover basic to advanced hooping techniques dance concepts.
The class is designed for each person to work at their individual level.
If possible, please bring own hula hoop.

EXHIBITIONS
RENEWABLE ENERGY ART
This exhibition includes work from ten Loddon Mallee artists with each piece representing a vision of "Our renewable energy future".
This is the first exhibition of its kind in the Loddon Mallee region.
This exhibition has free entry and will be touring the region throughout 2020, stopping in 10 municipalities.
COVID-19 appropriate hygiene, physical distancing and contact tracing protocols will apply.

THE EMU SERIES
Local artist, Angela Morrissey, is showcasing a solo exhibition featuring a new selection of artworks called The Emu Series.
The paintings depict the faces of the Australian emu: an important part of our First Nation's culture and a favourite among Australian citizens.
This exhibition is supported by the City of Greater Bendigo and the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

MUSEUM OF AUSTRALIAN HISTORY & ART
Take a walk through local Australian history and see various displays and artworks.
This museum and gallery features Aboriginal history, convict history, explorers, Victorian clothing, mining and Chinese history.
The art gallery also has items available to purchase.

AG ART 2000-2020
The Elmore Field Days Ag Art competition has been challenging central Victorian designers during the past 20 years with the aim of creating a garment from materials found on farms.
These everyday farming items are transformed into wearable outfits that are showcased and modelled on a catwalk at the Elmore Field Days.
The garments include materials such as wrap, chicken wire, hay bands, tractor tubing and much more.
2019 was the last year the competition would run.
This exhibition celebrates the winners, highlights and creations from the Elmore Field Days AgArt competitions.

ROSS TAYLOR: FIELD NOTES
Field notes presents a new body of work by central Victorian artist Ross Taylor.
Ross Taylor is a Kyneton based artist who relocated to Australia from the UK in 2009.
This exhibition explores the landscape, history, people and architecture of central Victoria and how it has shaped through time.

MANY STORY TREEHOUSE EXHIBITION
The Many Story Treehouse Exhibition celebrates Terry Denton's illustrations for the Treehouse series by Andy Griffiths.
This exhibition showcases original illustrations and sketches, and the development of ideas, characters and stories for the Treehouse series.
