Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards was at Kangaroo Flat's Crusoe College on Tuesday morning to announce Victoria is the first state or territory in Australia to ensure all students have access to free pads and tampons.
"We're proud to be providing free sanitary items in all Victorian government school to ensure all students - regardless of their background or circumstances - can focus and participate fully in their education."
The state government has invested $20.7 million towards the initiative, which provides discreet and easily accessible sanitary products to students, when they need them.
The recently introduced measure aims to reduction stigma, make schools more inclusive and ease cost of living pressures on families.

"Sanitary items are a basic necessity," Ms Edwards said.
"We're ensuring all girls in our public schools have access to pads and tampons when they need them."
