This was one of 14 fines issued at vehicle checkpoints for infringement of public health orders in the past 24 hours.
Police report the driver stopped at a Bendigo checkpoint was on his way to visit a friend in Rochester, after he drove from Melbourne.

Police checked 22,983 vehicles at checkpoints on arterial roads out of metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
Among other fines issued were three women parked in a car smoking. They told police they were hanging out after one finished work.
Eleven of the fines were for failing to wear a face covering when leaving home for one of the approved reasons, which is required in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
