A police officer from Victoria Police's western region is accused of committing sexual and violence offences.

The senior constable has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and six counts of unlawful assault.
The charges follow an investigation into an alleged incident that occurred in December 2019.

The officer was off-duty at the time.
Victoria Police's western region covers the western half of the state, excluding metropolitan Melbourne, and encompasses such towns and cities as Bendigo, Maryborough, Castlemaine and Echuca.
He will face court next month.
