Bendigo Health will provide face masks to those who do not have their own, and the masks must be worn while in the hospital.

St John of God Bendigo will also provide face masks to all visitors.

"Bendigo Health is confident we have enough masks to meet the needs," a spokesperson said.

"We draw our supply from a statewide store.

"With the reintroduction of visitor restrictions there is an anticipated reduction of people in the hospital precinct."

Temperature tests and screenings for those entering the hospital will continue.

"We have been working closely with Bendigo Health and have jointly determined a proactive, more cautious approach is in the best interests of the community, given the recent rise in coronavirus cases in the Greater Bendigo area," St John of God Bendigo chief executive officer Michelle Stares said.

"St John of God Health Care has been working since the commencement of the virus to build an adequate supply of PPE including masks, and by taking the unpredictable and uncertain nature of the virus into account in our modelling, we are able to meet the recent increase in amount required in Victoria from our existing and ongoing stocks."

St John of God Bendigo has halted its face-to-face outpatient appointments and is instead providing these through Telehealth.

Data released on Monday showed the City of Greater Bendigo had recorded a new case of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 13.

It was one of 177 new cases recorded in Victoria overnight.

There were six active cases in the region on Monday: four in Greater Bendigo, one in Campaspe Shire and one in Macedon Ranges Shire.

The Department of Health and Humans Services has directed that visitors to all hospitals in Victoria wear a mask.

People who visit any hospital are also asked to limit movement around the hospital as much as possible, and limit the number of personal items taken into the building.

Currently, the Victorian government advises those living in areas subject to stage three restrictions - metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire - to wear a mask when leaving the house, if it is difficult to maintain a distance of 1.5 metres from other people.

There are no such recommendations for people living in central Victoria or other areas of state when out in the general community.

Last week, both Bendigo Health and St John of God Bendigo announced visitor restrictions.

Visitors to Bendigo Health will only be allowed on compassionate grounds, at the discretion of the relevant nurse manager.

St John of God Bendigo will not allow visitors, with possible exceptions where the patient is a child, those receiving end of life care, those who have a disability that requires carer support, and the partners of those receiving maternity care.
