Residents' views on pool overlooked by council staff
Why did the council even survey the residents if they were never going to take our choices into consideration? The Golden Square pool has always been an important part of this suburb.

It's run by an amazing group of people who are passionate about what they do and it shows by the effort they put into it.
It's well maintained, staff are friendly, gives volunteers quality of life and social interaction.
The closing of pools like this hurts the autistic community, they struggle to cope with the sensory overload that a large indoor pool brings. Here they have space, reduced noise and lots of lovely grass to relax on.
The condition of the pool water here since the take over has been excellent, the water is clean and not over chlorinated making it safer for people with sensitive skin conditions.
You know when your children are finally at that age they can venture to the pool by themselves that they have vigilant staff on hand who will do their best to protect them and take the time to get to know them.
This effort gives parents greater peace of mind.
But it's also a social hub for the community to come along and connect with local people which we all know of great for mental health.
It's very disappointing how much the council has pushed over the years to have this vital community pool shut down.
Is that because the management team have showed how poorly the council ran it?

Potential bowls club relocation is too costly
Wake up in there! Maybe close the pool, but why spend more ratepayers money on relocation of the bowling club?
Aren't councilors aware of businesses and ratepayers have no more money for these extravagant proposals.
Rates should be pegged, if not even reduced, due to the current crisis.
Look after what we have, not what would be nice to have.
Enough of ratepayers' funds has been expended for extravagant projects.

Pool should remain
Don't get rid of the pool - too many people have worked their guts off to save it.
Why can't the pool be part of the sports facility?
They could build over the top of it and use it as part of the athletes' training regime.
Such a proposal would not be that hard to work out.
