The university was planning to prioritise some face-to-face activities in small classes so students could progress with their degrees.
A spokesperson said those plans have not changed, despite the state government imposing stage three restrictions in Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
"Essential face-to-face subject activity for semester two will commence as planned across all of La Trobe University's campuses including Bendigo, in accordance with the Department of Health and Human Services' advice around physical distancing and hygiene," the spokesperson said.
"Critical student services also remain open and accessible to students in Bendigo, including the Bendigo Student Association's food relief program, student counselling services, and residential services which are accommodating around 50 students on campus.
"La Trobe will also welcome secondary students on campus at the start of term three, when the Bendigo Tech School re-opens its doors."
The spokesperson said most subjects would continue to be delivered remotely to ensure the safety of staff and students.
"The university will continue to monitor the situation closely and respond to government health advice accordingly," the spokesperson said. "We recognise that this is a challenging time for students.
"We have been communicating with them throughout the year to make sure that they are aware of any changes and the supports available to them, including access to free counselling.
"We look forward to welcoming our students back onto our campuses once it is safe to do so."
La Trobe's second semester will start on July 20 and finish on October 16.
