The Kent Harpley-trained mare led from start to finish, courtesy of a superb Chris Alford front-running drive, and had too much in reserve for a gallant Major Jodi, who was chasing back-to-back wins at Shepparton, and finished second ahead of Golden Sand.
It was another thrill for the five-year-old daughter of Union Guy's owner and breeder John Campbell and his wife Kay, from Loddon Valley Stud.
Campbell, a long-time horse breeder, said the mare's first trip away for a race had been a valuable and beneficial experience.
"She did a bit more Monday than she did on debut, she showed the gate speed," he said.
"Kent took her to Shepparton to make sure she'd travel in the float for a couple of hours and not get too anxious. He said she was pretty good that way.
"She is showing a little bit.
"Chris Alford said she could have gone another lap ... he had trouble pulling her up in the back straight. She was still doing time going around the bend after she finished.
"Kent reckons she has a bit of depth."
Boxofchocolates, who only made his race debut as a five-year-old two weeks earlier, continued to repay the faith shown in him by his owner with a smart 1:55:5 performance over the 1690m.
Campbell was impressed enough to suggest the mare's second win was even better than the first.
"I was surprised a bit, two of them had won their last two races each (Major Jodi and Orbie) and another two or three had either placed or won a race in their last three runs," he said.
"That three-year-old Art Major gelding (Major Jodi) really ran a good race, I reckon he's got a fair bit of ability.
"Kent rang me on his way home and said everything went well and she was eating a little bit on the way back, which was great to hear.
"He doesn't know where the next run might be, but now Bendigo has re-done its track and they will be racing here at least once a week for a while, it will probably be here."
Harness Racing Victoria has scheduled six meetings at Lord's Raceway during the remainder of July, starting this Wednesday night, followed by next Monday afternoon (July 13).
Further meetings will be held on July 20 (day), 23 (night), 27 (day) and 31 (night).
Alford's win on Boxofchocolates gave the champion reinsman four for the day on the eight race program.
He earlier won on One Two Many for David Aiken, Allshookup for Rochester trainer Shayne Eeles, and Torea Lane for Luke Tabone.
A productive day at Shepparton for the Bendigo racing fraternity included wins for the trainer-driver combinations of Terry and Tayla French with Joeys Hangover and Kate Hargreaves and Alex Ashwood with Beau Garcon, while Heathcote reinswoman Shannon O'Sullivan notched her 49th career win aboard the Susan Hunter-trained Monash.
O'Sullivan now boasts three wins on Monash from six drives.
