The league has decided to shift its usual winter start to a later than normal October 3 season.
BSNA president Hannah Mildren said a spring season was the best chance at giving the league's players an opportunity to compete this year.
"We want to keep the girls as safe as possible and playing our competition in spring was the best outcome," Mildren said.
"Our members have been patient and understanding while they've been waiting for a date ."
Though a date has been set it is subject to change as the BSNA is keeping a close eye on any changes announced by the state government and Netball Victoria.
"It's like everyone at the moment, we are watching day-by-day for any changes that we must comply with," Mildren said.
AFL Central Victoria administrator Jan Mannes said it was ideal to delay the start of the season.
"This gives the players a chance to compete in some warmer weather and for the current number of COVID-19 cases to reduce," Mannes said.
"The executives were keen to not just cancel the season and we feel the new date is a good compromise."

The venues and team numbers are yet to be finalised as the later start date has slightly impacted some clubs.
"The later start date doesn't suit some of the clubs due to summer sport commitments among the players," Mannes said.
"The BSNA is happy for them to move to the Golden City Netball Association temporarily, which will help its growth.
"That doesn't mean in the 2021 season those teams can't come back to the BSNA, under these circumstances it's about working together to achieve the best outcome for all of the juniors."
The BSNA is a domestic junior netball competition which has teams from as far as Castlemaine and Maryborough.
