With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing a delayed start, youngsters in the under-12, under-14 and under-16 age groups took to pitches around central Victoria with plenty of vigour.
The number of spectators at venues were less than a "normal" Saturday morning because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Where possible, many spectators watched matches from the confines of their cars, while those who braved the cool conditions didn't huddle in clusters and social distanced themselves from fellow supporters.
While the weather was chilly, the action on the picth was hot with plenty of goals scored.
The non-competitive age groups - under-6, under-7, under-8, under-9 and under-10 - will kick-off next weekend.
The BASL senior competition is expected to start on the weekend of July 25-26.
