BENDIGO LEAGUE
GOLDEN Square withstood its toughest challenge so far of the Addy Iso-Season for the Bendigo league on Saturday to keep its unbeaten record intact.
The Bulldogs moved to 12-0 with their hard-fought six-point win over Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park, 11.11 (77) to 10.11 (71), in the battle of first versus fourth.
It was the fifth loss of the season for the Hawks - four of which have been by a kick - with Eaglehawk still to beat a fellow top-five side.
The clash between the Hawks and Bulldogs was the only round 12 game decided by less than 40 points.
After struggling the previous two weeks, Gisborne hit back with a 70-point win over Maryborough to re-establish a two-game buffer inside the top five.
Strathfieldsaye extended its winning streak to five in a row with a 67-point victory over Kyneton at Tannery Lane.
Sandhurst had the better of South Bendigo at the QEO by 41 points, with the loss, combined with Gisborne's win, a blow to the Bloods' finals hopes.
And Kangaroo Flat downed Castlemaine by 40 points at Camp Reserve to win its fourth game.

HEATHCOTE DISTRICT
Round 12 proved to be a case of moving day for North Bendigo and Leitchville-Gunbower in the Heathcote District league.
The Bulldogs recorded another percentage-boosting win to move into top spot, while the Bombers moved into third position as their solid form continued.
North Bendigo followed up its 100-point win over Elmore last week with a 99-point demolition of Mount Pleasant.
It proved to be another tough day for Elmore, which copped the full brunt of a red-hot Leitchville-Gunbower that notched the season's biggest winning margin of 104 points, prevailing 23.15 (153) to 7.7 (49).
Colbinabbin put its shaky form behind it, shrugging off three losses in a row to knock over Lockington-Bamawm United by 47 points in a result that cost the Cats top spot.
And White Hills' form slump continued as the Demons lost their sixth game in a row with a 34-point defeat to Huntly, which if it continues its recent from won't be spending much more time stuck on the bottom of the ladder.

LODDON VALLEY
Mitiamo's surge towards the Loddon Valley league top five continued at the expense of Bears Lagoon-Serpentine.
Having been well off the pace earlier in the season when a dicey 1-4 after five games, the Superoos have won four straight to square their ledger at 5-5 and now be just percentage outside the top five.
The Superoos defeated Bears Lagoon-Serpentine by 28 points, leaving the Bears with just one win from their past five games ahead of a daunting challenge next week against ladder-leader Bridgewater.

Charlton inflicted a sixth-consecutive loss on Boort by 56 points in a result that kept the Navies their hold on fourth position.
Wedderburn's formline is a concern for coach Danny Benaim. Having jumped out of the blocks winning their first five games, the Redbacks are now 2-5 in their past seven matches.
