As it stands three teams -Tatura, Shepparton and Shepparton South - have officially withdrawn from the 2020 competition.
With three teams out, it remains undetermined how many clubs will put forward senior squads.
Moving forward, BASL administrators continue to work hard behind the scenes and are determined to put together a season.
"The whole situation that we're in is one that no one was prepared for at the start of the year and especially not at a community sport level which relies heavily on volunteers," BASL president Aaron Shooter said.
"The one principle that we have stuck to is to be able to provide the players with the chance to participate and that is our major focus."
Shooter said it would've been easy to simply call-off the season, but interest remained among players who still wished to compete.
"The obvious easy path would've just been to call it off. But we knew there were still a lot of passionate players out there who want to play soccer," he said.
"We continue to work with the community and clubs to make it happen and are open to flexibility.
"People want a sporting outlet and we're passionate about making it happen for them. It's been a very unusual year for everyone and playing some sport might help make it all a bit more normal for them."
At this stage based on current information from Football Victoria, the BASL senior season is scheduled to begin on the weekend of July 25-26.
With three teams officially out, the total number that will participate in the 2020 season remains undetermined.
"With our senior competition we are waiting for the next bit of updated news from Football Victoria in regards to the return to play conditions," Shooter said.
"We have plans in place which all of the clubs are aware of, and assuming the best, we are excited to get back out playing in the coming weeks."
The state's peak soccer body Football Victoria continues to work with relevant stakeholders in providing the most up to date information in relation to any changes in dates or restrictions.
"We are doing our best to assist, guide and inform, wherever possible," FV said in a statement.
"However, we are all operating in an environment with ever-evolving information.
"We encourage our clubs to delay any major decisions at the moment, as we expect greater clarity to be provided over the coming days and weeks."
