Why the virus is still spreading
Call it ignorance, call it complacency but this is why we can't put a lid on the spread, I also believe Bendigo will head that way if we don't follow the advice.

Let me explain.
During lockdown and the worst part, the majority of people were following the 1.5 metre distancing, they were cleansing their hands at every store they went into and obeying store limits, but this was largely due to staff members policing these measures and handing out dollops of hand sanitiser.
I am a people watcher, call it a benefit left over from a past career.
I was down at my local Woolworths and there was nobody on the front door. There were four bottles of sanitiser though. I counted probably one in every ten people sanitised their hands.
There were people standing around in groups chatting. People just don't care or have the attitude (there are only two cases in central Victoria).
Each to their own I say, but it's not about them, it's about who they could contract it off and who they could pass it on to.

Virus is all our problem
I do not have the luxury or influence, of a full page in the Bendigo Advertiser to explain an opinion so I will be as brief as I can.
During our lifetimes, we are told by our parents and governments that we all have to be responsible for our actions.
Clearly, the spreading of the virus in Victoria has shown, this has not been the situation, indicating it is always somebody else's fault or problem.
But it is all our problem.
The incumbent government has responsibility for governing, but how can it prevent people not doing the right thing. In this instance it cannot.
If it imposes strict rules it is accused of being a police state.
If it gives its people the benefit of the doubt, they take advantage of it, so how can you win.
People not heeding the covid-19 medical advice are now going to be fined without hesitation. No wonder all concerned are angry.
The emphasis on football is mystifying to most, but understood, as the TV station is keen to get its moneys worth, such is the power of the dollar. But is this responsible in these circumstances? Many would say NO.
Finally, the sickest aspect of this deadly pandemic, is the attempt by the Victorian opposition to trivialize the situation with smart comments, but offering no solutions.
Thankfully all of the states and territories are helping out with medical assistance, more that we can say about the Victorian LNP.
They are simply pathetic.
