"We firmly believe it is every worker's right to return home safe after work," the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union Victorian Branch said following a fatal industrial incident at Thales Bendigo.
The branch offered its sincerest condolences and sympathies to the family of a 50-year-old North Bendigo man, who died at the Finn Street site this morning
"Our hearts are heavy with the news," AMWU acting state secretary Lou Malgeri said.

Defence manufacturer Thales has given its condolences to the loved ones of a 50-year-old man killed at its North Bendigo site this morning.
Production has now been suspended at the site.
"We are deeply saddened by this tragic event at Bendigo this morning that resulted in the death of an experienced and highly valued member of our team," a company spokesperson said.
"Thales extends our deepest sympathies and support to the family.
"Thales is also providing support to our employees and has suspended production on site.
"We are cooperating fully with authorities in the investigation of the incident."

COMCARE inspectors are making their way to Bendigo following a fatal industrial incident at Thales.
It is understood Thales will not be affected by Victoria's new workplace manslaughter laws, which came into effect on July 1, as the company is covered under the Commonwealth Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
Thales is one of a number of self-insured licensees under the Comcare scheme.
The Bendigo Advertiser is not suggesting Thales is at fault for the death.
Comcare would not comment further on the cause of the industrial incident, given the active investigation.

POLICE have confirmed a man killed in an industrial incident at Thales in Bendigo was a 50-year-old from North Bendigo.

A MAN has died in an industrial incident at Thales in Bendigo, police have confirmed.
The man has yet to be formally identified.
Police said the incident occurred about 7.30am on Thursday.
Comcare is investigating and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

EMERGENCY services are responding to an industrial incident at Thales in Bendigo.
Paramedics and police are on scene at the Finn Street premises.
Criminal investigation unit detectives are also at the site.
Comcare and Thales have both been contacted for comment.
