Northerly winds averaging between 40km/h and 60km/h are expected to hit Kyneton, Malmsbury, Castlemaine, and Harcourt.
Gusts could reach up to 100km/h, the bureau warned.
The State Emergency Service advised people should be aware trees that have been damaged by heat or fire could be unstable and more likely to fall.
Residents should also check loose items like outdoor settings and trampolines were safely secured.
Vehicles should also be moved under cover or away from trees.
