Crowned as the Bendigo Rowing Club's champion for 2019 and paired with significant success on the water, Rosaia was set for her debut at nationals in Sydney.

However, COVID-19 restrictions came into effect and her plans came to a halt.

But that didn't stop Rosaia from dreaming big.

During recent months she has been undertaking Rowing Victoria's Under-19 Pathway Program to refine her ability both on and off the water, all the while working towards her goal of rowing with an elite club in Melbourne.

"It was an intense program and every week we continued to build on it to make the sessions more challenging," Rosaia said.

The biggest benefit of the program was receiving feedback from the program's coaches.

"They were helpful in showing me ways to refine my technique, even though it was all on the ergonomic rower, they were small tips which really helped," Rosaia said.

"Technique has always been my biggest challenge so the pointers really helped me refine everything."

The pathway program included a seven-day schedule focused on a different element of fitness each day.

Monday included a long session on the indoor rower to help increase cardiovascular fitness, Tuesday focused on working in different heart-rate zones, in addition to a weight session.

On Wednesdays the participants would get together for a zoom meeting and do a session together, followed by light weights and a running session on Thursday and then Friday with another run.

Saturday was the biggest day of the program which included a 10km session on the indoor rower in addition to more cardio, before a well-deserved rest on Sunday before it was back to business on Monday.

Rosaia has big plans for next year, top of the list is a start at nationals in Sydney, in addition to landing a spot at one of Melbourne's top Yarra River clubs, Mercantile Rowing Club or Melbourne University Boat Club.

"The Bendigo Rowing Club helped me get to where I am today and I want to continue building my skills" she said.

"I want to compete at nationals to show the rowing community my ability and how hard I have worked to get to where I am."

Rosaia is in her final months of Year 12 and after she finishes the plan is to take a gap year to solely focus on rowing.

"I have a goal and I will push everything else aside and focus on it," she said.

"I will give it everything I've got because if I was to just stop now, I will always wonder what I could've achieved."
