THE future of the Northern United Cricket Association and the prospect of continuing with only five teams will be discussed at a meeting on Wednesday night.
Following the withdrawals of Raywood and Dingee, the NUCA, which solely plays one-day games, was last season reduced to just a six-team competition.
However, with Bagshot headed to the Emu Valley Cricket Association in a move that still needs to be ratified at the EVCA annual general meeting in August, it will leave the NUCA with just Elmore, Colbinabbin, Heathcote, Calivil and Goornong.
"We're having a meeting on Wednesday night to discuss the competition. At this stage we've got five teams, so we're going to get everyone's thoughts on do we keep it alive with five teams or do we have to fold it up," NUCA president David Dennis said.
"No decisions have been made yet. We want to get more opinions, but we should have a rough idea of what's going to happen after Wednesday night."
Dennis says the league would welcome the prospect of a new team entering the competition that could utilise the vacant facilities at Raywood.
Elmore won last season's NUCA premiership after beating Colbinabbin in the grand final.
