East Loddon P-12 College almost tripled its original Fight MND fundraising target of $500.
College principal Steve Leed, junior sub-school coordinator Jackson Clayton, school counsellor Michael Lawry shaved the beards they had allowed to flourish during self-isolation.
The school also took the classic 'ice bucket challenge' to a new extreme, with three canoes taking to a the college reservoir on an icy cold morning.
Senior sub-school coordinator Sarah Byrne, business manager Nathan Twigg and Student Representative Council treasurer Jasmine Condliffe joined Mr Leed, Mr Clayton and Mr Lawry in paddling out onto the reservoir.
They each tipped buckets of ice over their own heads and then tipped the canoes, immersing themselves in the reservoir.
More news:
Many of those who weren't in the canoes watched on in their sleepwear, with school members encouraged to wear their pyjamas as part of the fundraiser.
A livestream meant not all of the people watching were doing so in person, to adhere to distancing requirements.
Student Representative Council president and Year 12 student Ella Rowe used footage from the event to create a video for the broader college community.
The event was an initiative of the college's senior SRC.
An SRC member said the fundraiser might be repeated in years to come, but recommended organisers consider doing it when the weather was warmer.
SRC facilitator Chelsea Harrington said the $1300 in donations were largely raised in 24-hours.
The school said anyone keen to support their fundraiser for Fight MND could make a transfer to the school bank account.
Transfers must bear a reference to 'MND' to identify them as donations.
The account name is East Loddon P-12 College.
