Police are investigating after a police car was rammed in New Gisborne on Wednesday night.

The incident happened when police were called to Woodworth Street in relation to a suspicious vehicle at 9.40pm.
A Holden Commodore was found parked on a vacant block by officers.
When officers parked behind it, the driver of the dark sedan allegedly rammed into the front drivers side of the police car twice before fleeing from the scene.
The driver of the police vehicle, a constable, was not injured. His passenger, a male Leading Senior Constable sustained minor injuries.
The police vehicle sustained moderate damage during the incident.
