A MAN has been charged with six offences following an incident in Elphinstone on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old from Maryborough was allegedly driving a car with stolen number plates when it was seen speeding on the Calder Freeway near Kyneton at about 4pm.
Police observed the car until it stopped in Elphinstone and let out a female passenger who attempted to flee. She was arrested at the scene.
When police tried to intercept the car it allegedly drove at officers and a police firearm was discharged and a shot fired at the car.
The SUV fled and Police Air Wing helped intercept the car on the Calder Freeway where three men were arrested.
The 25-year-old man has been charged with with reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving, dangerous driving while being pursued by police, failure to stop vehicle on a police request, handling stolen goods, driving while suspended and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
He will appear at Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Thursday, June 25.
Detectives interviewed the 26-year-old Castlemaine woman, a 19-year-old Malmsbury man and a 23-year-old Dunolly man, who have since been released without charge.
No one was injured during the incident and the Professional Standards Command has been notified as per normal protocol when a police firearm is discharged.
