Sergeant Lee Clayton said police are investigating the cause of the fire in Rocky Rises Road.
"We haven't ascertained if it was suspicious or not," he said. "It appears (the car) was abandoned but it's too early to tell what the situation is. We will make some inquiries at the hospital and with Ambulance Victoria and go from there."
Sergeant Clayton said the car was well alight when emergency services arrived on scene.
"Police were called at about 8.15am to a car fire in Rocky Rises Road," he said. "The car was alight and CFA crews arrive shortly after and extinguished the flames."
