There's no doubt about it, winter is going to look a little different this year.
While the crisp mornings and sunny afternoons that blankets Bendigo might be all too familiar, at the time of publishing this issue of Out & About exactly how we'll be spending the season remains unclear.
Mind you, there are 'green shoots' as they say, and many outlets in tourism and hospitality have their hopeful hat firmly in place.
For many local businesses, such as our regional wineries (see list on page 12), Book Now (still open seven days) and Antiques Centre at the Bendigo Pottery, (open June 6), they are demonstrating great agility and giving us a reason to venture out and about - despite the weather and within current government restrictions naturally.
However other winter activities and favourite haunts may not be an option. So instead, we're celebrating the activities you can enjoy at home or in your neighbourhood with your family and loved ones.
From bike riding and book writing, to gardening and playing with Lego, there are plenty of ideas to keep you entertained. There's also a sweet treat to bake and some nearby day tripping ideas that may temp you later in the season.
