ONE of the favourites for this year's Loddon Valley league premiership - if there's a season played - will make a low key return to the training track this week.
While non-contact training was permitted to return in groups of 10 last week, Pyramid Hill is holding off until this week before resuming.
"We'll have a get together next week and have a bit of a run around and a catch-up," Pyramid Hill co-coach Nathan Fitzpatrick said at the weekend.
"As far as training goes, it's tough to tell players that we'll be going into it full-on while we still don't know whether the season is going to get called off or not.
"But our players are keen to at least do something together, even if it's just a bit of a kick and run around that isn't too serious."
There is still a glimmer of hope that a LVFNL season could be played this season following a league meeting last week where clubs decided to postpone a decision.
The league has already stated that without crowds being allowed at games this year then there would be no season.
Training was suspended for community football-netball clubs for more than two months from mid-March, forcing clubs to find new ways in which to keep their playing groups engaged.
"We've been doing different challenges based around some fitness and skills that we've been doing through our Facebook page, so the boys have enjoyed having a bit of competition," Fitzpatrick said.
Pyramid Hill was beaten by Mitiamo by 22 points in last year's grand final, continuing a premiership drought back to 1950.
But fiercely determined to go one better this year, the Bulldogs had put together a formidable list with recruits that include three Leitchville-Gunbower dual premiership players in Matt Ladson, Brad Ladson and Matt Pollock to add to the midfield, as well as Ryley Dickens and Jake Heavyside, plus Mick Dundon returning.
