At Kyneton, Sandhurst overcame a determined home side to win by a point.
Teenager Braidy Dickens was the hero for Sandhurst as his point, from basically the final kick of the match, earned the Dragons their third win of the season.
After only winning one game last season, the young Dragons have shown plenty of improvement so far in 2009.
Kangaroo Flat looked anything but a finals side, but still managed to scrape home by three points over a plucky Maryborough at Princes Park.
Maryborough youngster Luke Bucknall had a chance to win the game for the Magpies in the dying seconds, but his set shot from 50m out just missed.
The Magpies had reeled in a six-goal deficit to hit the front in the final quarter, but the Roos steadied to clinch the four points and consolidate fourth spot on the ladder.
Gisborne remains the only unbeaten side in the BFNL after it outmuscled Strathfieldsaye by 39 points.
The final margin flattered the Storm, with Gisborne easing up in the final quarter.
South Bendigo turned a 25-point quarter-time deficit into a 92-point win against Castlemaine at the QEO yesterday.
The Bloods trailed six goals to one at the first break, but proceeded to kick 20 goals to three in the final three quarters.
The Bloods won 21.25 (151) to 9.5 (59) and the final margin could have been much greater had they kicked straighter.
Golden Square and Eaglehawk had the weekend off after they played their round six match as the season-opener in early April.
In a rematch of the 2008 grand finalists, Golden square thumped the Borough by 58 points, with the Carter brothers kicking nine goals between them.
