Animal studies students at the Food and Fibre Centre of Excellence returned to campus this week for dog grooming practical assessments.
Bendigo TAFE's food and fibre director Nicole Broe said students have been training remotely for more than five weeks through a combination of virtual classes and digital practical demonstrations.
"Our students were thrilled to be back on site," Ms Broe said. "They were amazed at how much they actually learned during the digital theory delivery and that they were able to put that theory into practice."
Social distancing measures like staggering student participants, sanitisation, and the spacing of work stations were in place throughout the practical assessments.
"Our delivery modes are flexible, adaptive, and multi-faceted, which means a combination of theory and innovative practical training and assessments," Ms Broe said.
"We are very pleased with the success of our first animal studies practical assessment in the COVID-19 environment.
"It's set an example for how we will run upcoming practical sessions for other courses."
More than 3000 Bendigo TAFE students have been learning remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
