'DISEASE detectives' are continually reviewing notifications and cleaning data where possible, a Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson has said after another fluctuation in Loddon coronavirus data.
The spokesperson said numbers were subject to change as cases were followed up and data was further analysed.
"Reclassification can occur for a variety of reasons including the initial recording of incorrect residential address details, duplicate notifications for the same person - as notifications may come both from pathology labs and the treating doctor - and the recording of interstate cases," they said.
"This can be either other states notifying us of Victorians diagnosed and treated in another state, or vice-versa.
"Protocol dictates the case should be recorded in the state where diagnosis and treatment occurred, regardless of where they normally reside."
