A GOVERNMENT spokesperson has declined to comment on whether a new COVID-19 case diagnosed in central Victoria came about through community transmission or overseas travel.
The single case in the Loddon Shire announced on Thursday is one of just two active cases throughout central Victoria.
A spokesperson said the Department of Health and Human Services did not provide details about individual cases.
As part of contact tracing any public exposure sites for COVID-19 are contacted and given advice about transmission risks and any cleaning required.

ONE new COVID-19 case has been recorded in central Victoria's Loddon Shire.
The only active case in the shire, it brings the total number of cases recorded in Loddon to four.
It is one of just two active cases in central Victoria, the other in the Macedon Ranges.
Central Victorian shires have recorded just 30 COVID-19 cases.
It comes as Victoria eased restrictions on Wednesday, allowing people to gather in groups of 10 outside the home, and invite up to five people to their homes.
