Chasing back-to-back wins at Lord's Raceway on Monday, the in-form four-year-old trotter was given a patient drive by Ray and was able to swamp his rivals in the straight to defeat the John Tormey-trained Our Quick Cash by 3.6 metres, with Endsin A Party close up in third.
Now with five wins and five placings this season from 12 starts, Ray attributed the gelding's recent spate of good form to greater maturity.
"He's definitely always had the ability, but maybe there's just a few things that have clicked," she said.
"He's always tried his guts out and maybe I am just starting to understand him a bit more when I'm out on the track with him.
"Or maybe it could be one of those miracles when all just happens.
"I'm sure maturity is a big thing with him; we are certainly having a great time with him."
Ray acknowledged there would be bigger challenges ahead once regional racing was phased out, but for now the young training tandem were content to go with the flow with Rigondeaux.
"I love it (regional racing), Haydon and I always talk about it, not just that the horses are racing pretty well here, but just the closeness to home. We're not having too late a night, we just walk down the hill and it's beautiful," she said.
"He (Rigondeaux) has done such a good job for us, but we don't want to push him to the point where he is not happy.
"But he pulled up well after his race and is still very bright. I think it will be when he tells us (that he has had enough).
"We'll probably give him another run and then take it day by day from there."
