The new pop up clinic is part of Premier Daniel Andrews' major coronavirus testing blitz.

Mr Andrews is aiming for up to 100,000 Victorians will be tested for coronavirus by May 11, when Victoria's State of Emergency will be reviewed.

Bendigo Health chairman Bob Cameron says the health service hopes to conduct more than 1000 tests in the next fortnight.

"What we are doing is testing people who are otherwise healthy," Mr Cameron said.

"It is a random sample."

For at least the next five days, Bendigo Health nurses will be testing members of the public who don't have symptoms of coronavirus at the Marketplace.

"It is important to emphasise this clinic should cause no concern to shoppers," he said.

"These are people who don't have symptoms and are willing to participate in a random survey to figure out if there is coronavirus in the community."

Mr Cameron says Bendigo Health tested 128 people for coronavirus on Thursday, an increase of nearly 100 tests from a week prior.

It has been more than a month since a person living in the Greater Bendigo local government area returned a positive coronavirus result.

Bendigo Health chief executive Peter Faulkner says the milestone shows how seriously the community is taking the threat of the virus.

"We think we have done a number of things locally to aid this positive outcome for Bendigo and central Victoria," Mr Faulkner said.

"We banned our staff from travelling internationally and domestically quite early on and put in place a period of mandatory quarantine.

"Temperature testing and a restriction on visitors was another initiative we swiftly implemented."

Mr Faulkner says the community is to be commended for complying with the new policies.

"We have had so few issues and so few complaints," Mr Faulkner said.

"People have been very understanding of what we are doing and why we are doing it."

The pop up clinic is located opposite the Bank of Melbourne at the Bendigo Marketplace and operates daily from 10am until 2pm.

Patients can expect to receive a test result within 48 hours.
