The Country Fire Authority had hoped to demolish and rebuild the Bendigo brigade's headquarters by late-2021 but that is looking increasingly unlikely.
"The Bendigo fire station redevelopment is progressing, however the project has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and its final completion may be delayed by several months," the CFA said in a statement.
The station would be rebuilt under state government plans to add an extra 450 new firefighters across regional Victoria.

Firefighters are also expecting it to take longer to get into a temporary station earmarked for East Bendigo.
The CFA won permission to turn a Murphy Street industrial lot into a station last March and construction had been expected to start in the middle of the year.
The lot would house firefighters until the new Hargreaves Street fire brigade headquarters could be finalised.
The new city centre station would be able to house 100 staff and volunteers and properly fit fire trucks.
