Hi I'm Jayd and I am a year six student at Kennington Primary School. Now that we are living in isolation things are a bit different to what they used to be. School...from my lounge room? What a new experience!

My day begins with turning on the kettle and finding a tea bag. I pour the boiling hot water and make a start on my school day by powering on my laptop and joining my class in a WebEx online video conference.
While the kettle boils, I use this time to download my daily timetable and learning tasks that my teacher has posted in the online student portal. I can see that I have a busy day ahead!
Before too long the meeting begins and I am again face-to-face with all my friends. It's great to see some familiar faces, even if it is on a screen.
I start working on my reading tasks and prepare for this week's Book Club. I have another online meeting to talk about the book my group has been set.
One of the key benefits of learning from home is that the teachers have more freedom for one on one conferences. These occur during my advanced math and reading sessions and during a weekly conference with my teacher.
It's time for a break. I make myself another tea, my cat Podge plonks himself on my lap and my sister Shay and I have a chat. We are both learning from home and have had to very quickly get used to working around each other.
I put my headset back on and begin today's writing task. A newspaper article!
Next up is my favourite subject, Maths. I am participating in the Maths Olympiad which is a national problem solving competition. It was here before isolation and has thankfully managed to survive.
After a lunch break and some fresh air outside I begin work on any one of my specialist subjects whether it be Wellbeing, PE, Art, Auslan or Performing Arts. It's a nice way to break up the day.
We finish with another class check-in and are able to ask questions, share our work and even play board games. My favourite is Pictionary. It's great to have a laugh at our own drawings!
While my day is jam packed with things that I love my absolute favourite part about learning from home is that I'm allowed to drink tea, and lots of it!
