JAMES Seymour's 711 runs and 24 wickets have earned the Essendon star this season's Premier Cricket Ryder Medal.
Seymour - from Bendigo - tied on 28 votes with Ringwood's David King on Friday night for the Ryder Medal.
Seymour first played senior cricket with Bendigo in the BDCA in 2006-07, while he is now closing in on 150 games at Essendon since joining the club in 2010-11.
The left-hander's 711 runs at an average of 47.4 for the 2019-20 season from 16 innings feature five half-centuries with a top score of 90 against Ringwood in round 13.
And his 24 scalps were highlighted by two five-wicket hauls - 5-58 against Footscray and 5-22 against Camberwell.
With no Premier Cricket awards function held due to mass gathering restrictions, the vote count was instead streamed online.
"It's great to be recognised for the season I've had, and also congratulations to David, who has been consistent for a very long time," Seymour said following his joint win.
"It's great to be able to share the award with him."
Seymour has become just the third Essendon player to have won the Ryder Medal, joining John Grant (1973-74 and 1974-75) and Mark Leehane (1992-93).
"We have a good environment at Essendon; we have a lot of fun and it's a good bunch of boys," said Seymour, who played with Bendigo until he was 18.
"The focus for us when we turn up on Saturdays is to go out and have fun and it's great playing with those boys."
Across all forms and all grades since joining Essendon, Seymour now has 4279 runs at an average of 32.1.
He has been a run machine in particular over the past three seasons, churning out 2342 in the first XI, while he also scored 233 for Victoria's second XI during the 2019-20 season.
The Ryder Medal was one of two accolades for Seymour on Friday night. He was also selected at No.4 in the Premier Cricket Team of the Year.
Also earning a berth in the Team of the Year was former White Hills' gun Brayden Stepien, who is now playing for Carlton.
Keeper-batsman Stepien plundered 569 runs for Carlton in the 2019-20 season and also got his first taste of the Big Bash, playing two games late in the season for the Melbourne Renegades.
