Graeme Cornish received 110 millimetres of rain on his Leichardt property between Wednesday and Sunday.
Mr Cornish said the rains had filled the dams and taken subsoil moisture down nice and deep.
"It was bloody fantastic. All the dams in the district are full, which is very encouraging," Mr Cornish said.
"It's a bloody terrific start."

Mr Cornish had been carting water for stock before the rain. A few weeks ago he knew he'd be in big trouble if it didn't come.
David Johnson's property to the west of Elmore received a healthy 40 millimetres of rain during the same period.
It was "beautiful, heavy rain", Mr Johnson said.
He said recent falls had been the "near perfect" autumn rain, with a good few inches in early March as well.
Mr Johnson said he couldn't have ordered much better, with the rain perfectly timed to sow seed in warm, wet soil.
OTHER NEWS:
He said the rain would bring up the weeds now, so farmers could kill them before putting in crops.
Mr Johnson said rains had also been perfect for livestock.
"To be lambing with moisture in the ground and lambing with green feed in from of you. It's perfect," he said.
"If it keeps going the way it's started you'd be hard pressed to find something to complain about."
