Mr Pascoe made the decision to postpone the September 20 event after it emerged the coronavirus lockdown could last more than six months.
"I have been watching developments to see how it would go," he said. "(The six-man lockdown) pushes it right to when the event is and, optimistically, it could have been done. But arranging the event under a semi-lockdown is not ideal.
"Australia is flattening the curve, which is positive, but the talk of the lockdown extending (made things uncertain). I thought we should do the safe thing and postpone it.
"It gives us more time to make a cracker of an event (next year)."
Last year Bendi-Con attracted 2000 people and was arguably its biggest event yet.
"I was a bit worried about losing momentum but there's a lot of bigger events cancelling for same reason," Mr Pascoe said. "Hopefully a lot of people get excited for next one."
